Timeline of Recent History

This sim starts Q3 2266, shortly after the start of TOS Season 1. As such, it is roughly ten years since the Klingon War began, and eight and a half years since the war ended.

• 2151: Broken Bow Incident - First contact between Earth and the Klingon Empire
• 2155 - 2161: Earth-Romulan War
• 2161: United Federation of Planets founded
• 2241 - 2145: Low-intensity border conflict with Great Houses of the Klingon Empire
• 2243: USS Constitution launched, along with Enterprise, Intrepid, and Constellation. Ten more ships are produced over the next six years.
• 2246: Tarsus IV famine - the slow response to food shortages suggests Starfleet is growing overstretched compared to the number of both official and wildcat colonies on the frontier
• 2250: Second block of Constitution-class ships ordered following the massive success of the first set. Additional Class One ships such as Soyuz, Radiant, and Hermes classes based on Constitution technology are also designed, with the intent of having this "Mid-Century Modern" style replace the aging "Next Step" generation such as the Walker and Cardenas over the next twenty years.
• 2256: May 12, Battle of the Binary Stars. General war erupts between the Federation and Klingon Empire.
• 2256: July, Defense of Benzar. October, Battle of Corvan II, Battle of Yridia, Siege of Bolarus
• 2257: January, Battle of Pahvo. USS Discovery disappears.
• 2257: April-July, 'Months of Blood' as multiple colony worlds are destroyed by terror attacks, in some cases by total biome eradication weapons.
• 2257: September, Fall of Starbase 1, L'Rell elected Chancellor, armistice signed.
• 2258: Demobilization process complete. USS Discovery lost during transwarp experiment near Xahea. USS Enterpise badly damaged while observing.
• 2259: Constellation, Enterprise, Intrepid, and Defiant begin the first Five-Year missions since the war.
• 2261: April 15, Federation Centenary. May 12, fifth anniversary of the Binary Stars.
• 2263: April 5th, 200th Anniversary of Earth's First Contact with Vulcan
• 2264: Federation Council passes Klingon Border Defense Act, begins fortifying starbases and planets along the border. Starfleet is also directed to begin plans for a "Total Modernization Program" to ensure the Constitution generation remains up-to-date, in order to avoid a repeat of the wartime problems with outdated designs.
• 2266, July: USS Enterprise begins her latest Five-Year Mission with a journey to investigate the Galactic Barrier, now under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
• 2266, September: Attack by Romulan warship on Neutral Zone Outposts. Increased skirmishes with Klingon warships in the disputed zones.
• The Future - June 2267: Negotiations with the Klingon Empire completely break down. Starfleet and the Federation Diplomatic Service concur that war is likely before mid-summer, possibly on the Klingon anniversary of T'Kuvam's martyrdom.
