Timeline: MD 01, 2030
Elijah had just finished up with the latest round or phase tests with the operations department when the doors to the range slid open again. He looked down at his PADD; he could have sworn operations was his last group for the day.When he looked up he saw an ensign enter. She looked around and then flashed him a brief smile when they locked eyes.
“Ensign?’ Elijah asked. “Is there something that I can help you with?”
“Ensign Zora Horn reporting for phaser training,” she said, extending her hand. “Sorry about randomly dropping in like this but I’m from operations and they’re still trying to get my orders and everything to cross over. Last minute addition from the Omaha.”
Elijah nodded and shook her hand. “Nice to meet you Ensign Horn. I’m Lt. Cooper, let me see if I can get your information pulled up.”
“Of course sir,” she said, walking over to the locker.
Elijah called her file up in his PADD. “Found you, wow, you scored better than some of my own security personnel on your last exam. Are you sure you belong in operations?”
Zora laughed and checked the charge on the phaser. “No thanks, I like problem solving and operations has plenty of that. Ready when you are sir.”
Elijah nodded. “Alright, let’s get to work then.”
Elijah ran Zora through the proficiency drills, including some of the more advanced courses just for the fun of it. When she finished, he was surprised, and mildly annoyed that she shot better than some of his own security detail. He made several mental notes and decided he’s have to bring those officers back in.
“You’re good,” Elijah said, putting the phaser back. “Are you sure that you don’t want to switch it up?”
“No thanks,” she said. “But I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for squeezing me in sir.”
“No problem, thanks for taking it seriously.”
“Always sir,” Zora said. “See you around Lt. Cooper.”
